Side-on or straight?
Similar to the image of the red leaves opposite, here we’ve started off with a basic, straight-on shot of our subject before working the angles for more of a side-on view. The side-on view arguably offers a more dynamic angle, with a blurred foreground and background. So as with the woodland shot above there’s greater separation between the subject and her surroundings. That being said, some might prefer the straight-on view. It gives more of a flat, graphic feel. A bold block of colour or interesting surface can look great when captured straight-on like this.
