How to clean an EOS camera
Where to focus your attention when buffing up your Canon DSLR body
When it comes to cleaning the exterior of your camera, it pays to invest in just a few, good quality items. A basic care kit comprises a bulb blower, a soft brush and a microfibre cloth or Lenspen. You can go further with lens tissues and lens cleaning fluid, but I rarely carry these if I’m out and about. I also rarely clean the sensor beyond the usual couple of squeezes with a bulb blower and find it just as cost effective to send off my gear for an annual sensor clean rather than invest in a stack of sensor-cleaning paraphernalia.
Don’t forget to include accessories in your cleaning regime. Lenses are a given, but tripods can benefit from a strip down and regrease around the joints (the crunch of grit and sand caught up in the threads as you tighten them is an indication that they need some love). Take the opportunity to empty your camera bag as well, and give that a bash outside or hoover it out.
