QUICK FIXES
I’m going to Norway to photograph the Northern Lights. How do I avoid condensation on my camera when I go indoors?
John Carracher, Sandhurst
Brian SAYS… Put the camera in a re-sealable polythene bag before you come in from the cold. When you go out again, condensation will form on the outside of the bag, but not the camera. Add some silica gel packs, too.
How do you stop the EOS 700D flash popping up?
Sarah Winters, Hayes
Brian SAYS… When the mode dial is turned to A+, the flash will automatically pop-up in dim conditions. You can select the next mode, flash off, to prevent this from happening. Steady the camera to reduce camera shake due to long exposure times.
My new Canon EOS 800D has a different menu layout that I’m struggling to use, should I take it back to the shop?
Paul Smallman, Melton Mowbray
Brian SAYS… The Canon EOS 800D and 200D use a new style of menu designed to be easy for first-time Canon DSLR owners. To use the traditional layout, press the MENU button, choose the green display level settings, and change to standard menus.
