Is it possible to update the firmware of my EOS camera without using a card reader, as I don’t have one?

Brian Says… Yes, it’s possible to update the firmware on your camera if you don’t have a card reader. The process is straightforward, and it is best to start by visiting the Canon support website https://bit.ly/pp140support to download the firmware update for your camera. Once the file download has finished, double click on the downloaded file to open it and you’ll find the file.

Make sure that you have a fully charged battery in the camera, and then format your memory card. Now connect your camera to your computer, and start the EOS Utility, if it doesn’t start up automatically, that is. From the main menu choose camera settings and then firmware update option to start the process. A series of dialogue boxes guide you through the steps to update to transfer the file to the camera and update your firmware. All relatively simple, I can assure you.
