There’s an incredible amount of texture and atmosphere in this shot and we love the way the fog surrounding the island makes the bright church pop out. The blue colour palette gives the scene an ominous, melancholic mood and the composition really draws in the eye, which is why we chose it as the winning image in the ‘Blue for You’ competition. “I took this picture during a lifestyle family session, in Tahiti. Two of the girls had these beautiful matching blue dresses. I positioned them on the floor, climbed up one of the outside stairs and shot from above. I used natural light and a Speedlite in a white umbrella on the top right to get this photograph.”

“The colour scheme for this shoot was influenced by the movie Tron. I used flashes with red and blue gels to create the striking complementary colours, but I had to be careful as these had a tendency to be overpowering,” says Dominic.
