DIGITISING YOUR VINTAGE PHOTOS

The first stage in restoring your old photos is to digitize your prints. This is best done with a flatbed scanner. However, if you don’t have one to hand you could take a photo of the print with your camera. Keep the lighting even, ideally with two lamps either side of the print at 45 degrees. Use a tripod, shoot at a low ISO like 100 to keep noise to a minimum and select a mid-range aperture like f/8 as this is where lenses tend to be at their sharpest.
