STEP 2 FIND A SPOT TO HIDE AND SHOOT FROM

-

Birds, by their nature, are very wary, so it’s rare that you can simply sit in front of the perch and expect a bird to land into view. Professionals sometimes use camouflaged hides that pop up a bit like a tent, but these can be pricey. You’ll be glad to hear that these are non-essential, you can hide from view from a nearby window, or make a hide on the fly like we did, propping up a few towels on a washing rack to stay out of the bird’s line of sight. The movement of bringing your camera up to your eye when a bird lands could also be enough to scare it off, so it may be worth setting up on a tripod or monopod to keep your camera at eye-level and pre-focused on your perch ready to go.
