STEP 4 EXTEND TELEPHOTOS WITH A TELECONVERTER
If you are struggling for focal length and are too far away from your tiny subjects, there are a couple of things that can help. First up, crop-sensor cameras are brilliant for wildlife photography, as the crop factor extends the effective focal length of your lens. For example, pairing my APS-C EOS 90D with my 70-200mm optic gives me an effective focal length (EFL) of 320mm thanks to the 1.6x crop. For even more focal length, you can use an teleconverter, which magnifies the glass you’re using. This fits between the lens and camera body, my 1.4x teleconverter gives me more length, and becomes even more of a telephoto zoom with the sensor crop of my APS-C Canon body too!
