Although incredibly well camouflaged against the underside of a log, focusing in close with my Sigma 105mm macro lens and firing my flashgun with softbox from the side has helped reveal an amazing amount of detail in this Tanzanian giant tailless whip scorpion (as Alex called it). Especially considering it has a body about the size of a 50 pence piece! Close-up really reveals its terrifying spines and features, from its armour to its eyes and barbed arms – making it look like something out of sci-fi horror movie!
