DEVS’ DREAMS
More remake fantasies…
rand miller CREATOR: MYST, RIVEN, OBDUCTION
I’m not as motivated to shape other IPs as I am to make my own, which is weird maybe – something odd about me. But there were a few games in my history that kind of shaped me. And what I liked, Tomb Raider – at the time I would have loved to take that IP and take out the bad guys and the dogs that I had to kill, because it felt like after I got that friction out of the way, there were these worlds that were intriguing to me and that I could explore, and the friction changed.
Instead of a confrontational, antagonistic friction, I got more of an exploratory friction and I had to figure out how to climb up this way and jump over to this thing and shimmy over to here. That was invigorating for me at the time. If I was going to pick one I probably would have said boy, wouldn’t it be fun to do Tomb Raider but do it and change the scope, where I don’t really care about the gun part of it. I realise that a lot of people would say that was the fun part! I think it’s just different strokes for different folks and I live in that world where I love exploring without the tension.

I loved Uridium. I’d love to see that remade… with VR.
Graeme Ankers MANAGING DIRECTOR: THE PERSISTENCE
I’d love to see G-Police come back. It was one of the first sandbox games – that’s why they put the bridges in, to let the game load. It was a magnificent achievement. It was rock hard, too. There was a pinch point, between levels five and six, when it got so hard. It was one of the first open-worlders too, it was the first time you felt a part of the world.
