Grooting for the scrappy underdogs on a new space quest
Still hooked on the feeling of watching the galaxy’s snarkiest heroes quip their way through saving the universe? Treat yourself to a more concentrated dose by stepping into the jet-fuelled boots of Star-Lord and co for their latest escapade, as Marvel’s bunch of a-holes are the latest comic superstars getting the Telltale Games treatment. The story follows the group as they come across a relic that boasts enormous power (this is Marvel, after all). While each Guardian has their own motives for getting their mitts on said MacGuffin, a mysterious female villain has other ideas about its current ownership and plans to take it, whatever the cost. As ever, the decisions you make along the way will shape the story you see. Hopefully we’ll get the chance to decide between Star-Lord’s ‘rad mixes’.
MIDDLE OF KNOWHERE
So what parts of the Galaxy can you expect to guard? Unsurprisingly, Knowhere – the giant Celestial head on the edge of space that also turned up in the film – will make an appearance, as will Star-Lord’s ship, the Milano. While exploring your floaty home will be its main purpose, there’ll also be some QTE action scenes involving the bucket o’ rust.
It’s also no surprise, then, that Peter Quill will be your main character, but you’ll get a chance to play as other members of the team. Telltale is cagey on the details, but we’re crossing our fingers for a chance to handle some of Rocket Raccoon’s imposing firepower.
The Hollywood movie cast won’t be voicing the team. Telltale’s The Walking Dead alum Scott Porter is the man behind Quill’s mask, and everyone’s favourite voiceover artist Nolan North is providing Rocket’s snarky one-liners.
With The Walking Dead: A New Frontier proving to be a strong comeback for the studio after the inconsistent Batman series, this latest adaptation looks set to continue the upward trend.
