CRASH BANDICOOT 3: WARPED

-

Medieval Warp Room 1. Toad Village (crystal, white gem, relic)

An easy level to get you into the game. Just smash every crate and collect every wumpa to earn your very first white gem. That said, enemies can be tricky – frogs will jump at you, and you need to wait for knights to stop spinning before you attack them. There’s a bonus stage platform beyond the first bridge, and these crates count towards your total, so you’ll need them to 100% the level. The crystal is on the second bridge.

2. Under Pressure (crystal, white gem, relic)

To avoid the sharks, or kill them without injuring yourself, wait until a shark is swimming away from you before you move. Puffer fish can be killed when they deflate, but not when they’re puffed up. Avoid the electric disc in the tunnel where possible. Break every crate to earn the white gem – using the underwater sled is your best way to do this as its torpedoes can shoot crates hidden inside coral reefs. The crystal is just before the tunnel that leads to the level exit.

3. Orient Express (crystal, white gem, relic)

Play as Coco riding a tiger! But watch out for the swooping dragons. At the ramp near the first hut, either jump onto the hut to nab yourself an extra life, or go inside the hut to smash every crate. Going inside the hut means you can earn the white gem, so it’s best to do this on the first run at the level. To get the crates attached to kites, use the boost jump. At the second hut, use the ramp to jump up and get the crates. At third hut, avoid the ramp and go inside the hut to smash the crates to earn the gem.

4. Bone Yard (crystal, two white gems, relic, requires red gem)

A dinosaur chases you for parts of the level, so beware! You’ll need to memorise the level to avoid the dino. Don’t worry about smashing crates in these stages as the prehistoric pest has its helpful side – it will smash any crates you miss. (You need to break every crate to earn one of the white gems.) There’s a bonus stage platform just beyond the red gem platform – hop on it and smash the crates, and you’ll find a white gem down this route. Later, the grassy areas will slow you down, so spin into them to keep your speed up. Hit the exclamation crate at the end of the level to explode all exclamation crates and earn the level’s other white gem.

5. Makin’ Waves (crystal, white gem, relic)

Coco on a jet ski! The level’s crystal is just past the row of floating bombs halfway through the level. Again, break every crate to earn the gem. And remember, when on the jet ski you can backtrack to smash any missed crates.

Boss Battle: Tiny Tiger (Super Belly Flop attack)

When Tiny Tiger jumps at you, avoid him. His trident gets stuck in the ground, so now spin-attack him. When the lions emerge, stand near their entrance and hammer spin-attack to kill them as they appear. Repeat this process until he’s defeated, and you’ll earn the Super Belly Flop ability.

Arabian Warp Room 6. Gee Wiz (crystal, white gem, relic)

To kill the wizards, get in close before they have a chance to fire their spells, and spin-attack them. Break every crate to earn the gem. There are protective Aku Aku masks to find, too. The bonus stage platform is just beyond the second bridge; smash every crate as it adds to the gem reward. The crystal is near the sword-swinging knights, just past the bonus area exit. There’s an exclamation crate at the level’s end.

7. Hang ‘Em High (crystal, white gem, relic)

Some tricky jumps here, so use Crash’s shadow to gauge where he is going to land. Attack the sword men while they have their backs facing you. The crystal is near the end of the level hanging above the Bonus Stage platform. Enter the Bonus Stage to smash every crate. Scorpions are a new enemy but can be spin-attacked.

8. Hog Ride (crystal, white gem, relic)

To get the crystal you need to come first in this two-wheeled road race. It’s best to ignore the crates on your first run and focus on winning, then replay and grab every crate to earn the gem. To win you’ll need to hit every booster pad, making Crash wheelie and go faster.

9. Tomb Time (crystal, two white gems, relic, requires purple gem)

You can’t get either gem yet, as you need to use the purple gem from Level 13 to access the secret area in order to smash every crate, and the second white gem is at the end of the purple gem route. So, on your first play, just focus on grabbing the crystal. When you reach the falling platforms, use the green ones with letters on, as these don’t fall. There’s a bonus stage near the end of the level just beyond the second bridge; enter it and smash

crates to add towards your gem tally. The crystal is near the end of the level, on some falling platforms.

10. Midnight Run (crystal, white gem, relic)

This one’s just like the Orient Express level, but this time it’s night-time. As before, you have to choose whether to jump on the huts or go inside to smash crates, and, also as before, smashing crates is your best option on the first run to earn the gem. If you miss any crates you’ll have to restart. A slight change comes at the second hut – run and jump-spin off the roof to smash floating crates. The crystal is just beyond the third hut.

Boss Battle: Dingodile (Double Jump attack)

This boss has two attacks: the air shot, and the laser blast. To avoid the air shots, watch their shadows to see where they’ll land. When Dingodile starts shooting lasers, simply run in one direction around him to avoid them, then reverse your run when he shoots again. When he stops shooting, gaps appear between the crystals and you can run in and spin-attack him. When Dingodile falls over, run away because he’ll explode. Rinse and repeat till he’s beaten.

Asian Warp Room 11. Dino Might! (crystal, two white gems, relic, requires yellow gem)

Crash rides a baby dinosaur! The crystal is right next to where the dino throws Crash off, just before the bonus stage platform. Again, you earn one of the white gems for smashing every crate in the level. Spinning enemies can only be killed when they come to a stop. As before, the large chasing dino will smash any crates you miss. When you have the yellow gem, the second pterodactyl you meet will pick up Crash and fly you to a secret area where you can smash crates and earn the second white gem.

12. Deep Trouble (crystal, white gem, red gem, relic)

Like in Under Pressure, grab the sled and get going. This level offers the red gem, and also throws in some whirlpools, just to keep you on your bandicoot toes. Break every crate to earn the white gem. The crystal is near to some sharks; it’s easy to spot. You find the red gem by taking the upper route into the last tunnel at the end of the level. To destroy the steel crates, swim to the exclamation crate, activate it, and then go back. There’s now a TNT crate that you can use to destroy the steel crates. At the end of the tunnel is the red gem.

13. High Time (crystal, white gem, purple gem, relic)

To earn the purple gem needed to complete Level 9, Tomb Time you’ll need to finish this level without dying. You’ll have met these enemies already, so you know how to deal with them. The purple platform leads to the purple gem. The crystal is near the bonus stage platform. And make sure you smash all the crates, as just as before you need to break every crate in the level to earn the white gem.

14. Road Crash (crystal, white gem, relic)

We’ve been here before: win the race to earn the crystal, smash every crate to nab the gem. When you see a yellow road sign near the diner that has an alien face on it (it’s early in the race), smash into it to access a new secret area.

15. Double Header (crystal, white gem, relic)

This one’s like Toad Village, only with a new two-headed enemy. Use the Super Belly Flop attack to kill them and use them as trampolines. Break every crate, including the crates in the bonus stage found just beyond the second bridge, to earn the white gem. The crystal is near a goat at the end of the level, just before the third bridge.

There’s a Nitro crate at the very end; smash it to destroy any remaining Nitro crates and earn the white gem to add to your tally.

Boss Battle: Doctor Nefarious Tropy (Death Tornado Spin attack)

This boss has two attacks. The first is fireballs – they’re easy to deal with; just double-jump over the low ones and slide under the high ones. The second is a laser wave, which you can also jump over. Do this and the platforms rearrange so you can get to Doctor Nefarious Tropy while he recharges and spin-attack him. Keep doing this to defeat him and earn the Death Tornado Spin attack.

Egyptian Warp Room 16. Sphynxinator (crystal, two white gems, relic, requires blue gem)

There’s a fork in the path and getting to the left-hand side looks hard, but to reach it run, then use your new Death Tornado Spin to jump across. This is an easier path than the right side and yields some extra lives. The crystal is at the end of the level. The bonus stage platform is outside a tunnel; as ever smash every crate here and in the level to earn the gem. The second white gem can only be found once you have the blue gem from Level 20, Tomb Wader.

17. Bye Bye Blimps (crystal, white gem, relic)

An easy level – just blow up all the golden balloons with the crates attached. Barrel roll to avoid the other planes. Shooting the white balloons with the red cross on earns health, which you’ll definitely need to reach the level’s end.

18: Tell No Tales (crystal, white gem, relic)

Coco on a jet ski. This is a lot like Makin’ Waves, but harder as there are more enemies to worry about. You’ll find hidden boxes behind the islands, pirate ships, and trees, and there’s a lot of backtracking and exploring to do in order to find every hidden crate. The crystal is past a row of floating bombs, mid-way through the level, near a pirate ship. Break every single crate to earn the gem – you’ll need to explore every inch of the level.

19. Future Frenzy (crystal, two white gems, relic)

There are lots of crates in this level, and you’ll need to smash them all to earn the first white gem. The crystal is just past a row of lasers near a platform. Halfway through the level is a bonus stage platform; hop on it to get busy smashing crates. There are lives and Aku Aku masks to find here too. There’s a special entrance to this level, making it effectively Level 29, in the Secret Warp

Room, and you need to go through this entrance in order to smash all the boxes and claim the level’s second white gem.

20: Tomb Wader (crystal, white gem, blue gem, relic)

This level has rising water levels that can catch you out, so be patient and only run to the safety of the steps when the water is lowest. The statue enemies will block all your spin attacks, so slide into them to knock them out of the way. The crystal is at the top of a set of stairs. To get the blue gem you need to complete the level without dying. There’s a skull-and-crossbones platform two-thirds of the way through; jump on it to access a secret blue gem route. The gem is at the end, past some Nitro crates.

Boss Battle: Doctor Neo Gin (Wumpa Bazooka)

Coco is in a spaceship, facing off against Doctor N. Gin in a larger ship. When areas of the robot open between attacks to reveal yellow weak spots, shoot them. When N. Gin fires rockets at you, shoot them to make them explode before they reach Coco. He’s got five hit points in this phase. In the second phase, N. Gin has seven weak spots to destroy, and multiple attacks. Just keep dodging and blasting, and when you defeat him you’ll get the Wumpa Bazooka.

Future Warp Room 21. Gone Tomorrow (crystal, two white gems, relic, requires green gem)

You’ll need the Wumpa Bazooka you just won to shoot floating exclamation crates and some enemies – the giant robots, for example, can be shot once their green weak spots are revealed. You can’t get the second white gem until you’ve earned the green gem from Level 23. There’s a bonus stage platform mid-way through the level, and near this is the crystal.

22. Orange Asphalt (crystal, white gem, relic)

This is like the other road race levels, so a win earns you the crystal, and smashing all crates wins the white gem. A new addition is the police, who now drive back and forth and will set up road blocks.

23. Flaming Passion (crystal, white gem, green gem, relic)

After you ride a carpet, and see a group of TNT boxes, you should see a crystal to collect. This level also includes the green gem path, which is populated by sword-throwing enemies – you need to dodge these, then shoot them with the Wumpa

Bazooka when they turn their backs. Use your shadow to gauge where Crash will land when jumping across the trampolines. After you leave the green gem path there’s a bonus stage platform. Again, smash all the crates to earn the white gem.

24. Mad Bombers (crystal, white gem, relic)

Like past plane shooting levels, you need to shoot the golden balloons to get the crates, and shoot the health balloons to earn health. This time around you need to shoot two engines on each enemy plane to bring it down. There are five planes in total to destroy.

25. Bug Lite (crystal, two white gems, relic, requires all five coloured gems)

A firefly provides you with light, so you’ll need to move quickly to keep up. You can’t earn the second white gem on this level until you have all five coloured gems from the previous levels. There’s a ton of new enemies and challenges in this level, including snakes, slippery floors, traps, falling walkways, jumping alligators, and more. When you see a section of red falling platforms you should see a bonus stage platform just inside a tunnel. As before, smashing all crates, including those in the bonus stage, will give you the white gem.

Boss Battle: Doctor Neo Cortex (Crash Dash)

As you battle N. Cortex you’ll notice Uka Uka and Aku Aku are fighting too. If you touch either of them Crash dies. Cortex has three phases. He shoots fireballs and tosses mines. In the first phase avoid the fireballs, and when he throws the mines he’s vulnerable so that’s when you need to spin-attack him. During the second phase, as the masks spin around Cortex’s platform, stand as far back as you can to anticipate the masks’ motion, avoid Cortex’s attacks, and spin-attack when he’s vulnerable. During the third phase, again stay back and move out of the way when the masks explode. Spin-attack Cortex one last time to defeat him. Now you’ve earned the Super Run to use when you replay the levels, to earn relics for speed runs.

Secret Warp Room

Once you’ve got five relics, you can access the sixth, secret, Warp Room and start your final run towards the game’s conclusion.

26: Ski Crazed (white gem, requires five relics)

Another ‘Coco on a jet ski’ level, this one features the highest number of boxes of any in the game – a round 100.

27: Hang ’Em High Alternate Entrance (yellow gem, requires ten relics)

This is a repeat of Hang ’Em High, but the Secret Warp Room provides a second entrance, which leads to a Nitro-littered route where you’ll find the yellow gem, before returning you to the main level shortly before the end.

28. Area 51? (two white gems, requires 15 relics)

A night-time rerun of Level 8: Hog Ride, where not only are the rozzers driving at you, you’ve got half-a-dozen flying saucers to race – and only your pitiful headlight to see the cones littering the road.

29. Future Frenzy (requires 20 relics)

There’s a second entrance to the level in the Secret Warp Room. You need to complete both this part of the level and the main route in Level 19 : Future Frenzy to collect all gems from the level.

30. Rings Of Power (two white gems, requires 25 relics)

Fly your plane through a series of rings to earn the gems – win the race for one, and smash all the crates for the second. Where does the power come into it? Spin as you pass through a ring and your plane gets a handy speed boost.
