LAST MONTH ON PS PLUS

- @bentyrer

Got some hankies to spare? I’d be willing to bet you don’t after all the gaming goodies that the Instant Game Collection brought in June. Whether it was for dabbing your eyes during Dontnod’s incredible episodic adventure, Life Is Strange, or wiping Killing Floor 2’s gizzards from your face, you needed a few tissues. Regular readers will know that LIFE IS

STRANGE is an OPM office favourite, and we didn’t need any excuse to return to the exquisitely designed series. We headed back to Arcadia Bay and revisited Max Caulfield and her time travel abilities. We solved clever puzzles and made tough decisions as we helped her reconnect with BFF Chloe, struggling to hold back the waterworks by the time we got to the final episode. KILLING FLOOR 2 offered a welcome change of pace, with the frantic co-op zombie FPS offering buckets of gore and plenty of pant-ruining jump scares; we fought bravely to keep the hordes of flesh-munchers at bay. It might have been a little rough around the edges, but you can’t really go wrong with an enemy called “Gorefast”. Name, nature. On PS3, we tried not to stare into

ABYSS ODYSSEY for too long. The side-scrolling adventure had plenty of style, but clunky combat ensured it was a journey not worth taking. Fortunately, the chance to thrash rally cars around Europe in WRC 5 got our engines ticking, and its accessible handling kept us returning to the road all month.

It all went a bit ’80s on Vita. Top-down shooter NEON CHROME brought some satisfying twin-stick shooting, while odd platform-puzzler SPY CHAMELEON tasked you with hiding from cameras by changing colours and blending in with the scenery. This was the point where you used your final hanky to wipe your Vita’s screen clean.
