The Dark Knight swoops in for a second season

-

Batman: The Enemy Within Bats returns for a second series in the classic Telltale style… and so does one of our favourite villains. Who could the enigmatic criminal be?

Ever wanted to be Batman, without getting punched and having your parents shot by a mugger? Telltale has your back, with its adaptation of the Caped Crusader’s adventures. The second season kicks off with an episode pitting Bats against question-mark enthusiast the Riddler. With his penchant for deadly puzzles, old Edward Nygma seems like the perfect antagonist for a point-andclick Batman game, putting the focus on cracking cases rather than skulls.

There’s still plenty of action, though. Delivered through quick-time events, it doesn’t pack the same punch as the Arkham games’ combat system, but Telltale has found a way to incorporate its trademark moral decisions into fights. Should you zap this perp with a Bat-gadget, or boot him like you’re taking a penalty?

Filling out the cast are Amanda Waller, who you might remember from Suicide Squad, and ex-Arkham resident ‘John Doe’, introduced last season. We can’t help but feel there’s something familiar about John, what with his green hair, pale skin and love of bad jokes. Hmm.

The second episode offers more clues, plus one Harleen ‘Harley Quinn’ Quinzel. Will the self-proclaimed World’s Greatest Detective be able to puzzle out this mystery? The signs are positive that this season will continue to tease out a more cerebral Bats.

EDWARD NYGMA SEEMS LIKE THE PERFECT ANTAGONIST FOR A POINTAND-CLICK BATMAN GAME.
