Rockstar sets a firm release date

Red Dead Redemption II will release 26 October

-

Rockstar delaying one of its major releases is like David Cage saying something controversial – it was always going to happen. The bad news is Red Dead Redemption II has yet another delay to its release. The good news is we have a firm release date. Mark down 26 October 2018 as the day to book off from work, phone in sick, or bunk off from college.

Of course, we’ve come to expect delays when it comes to Red Dead Redemption II. Originally it was planned as a Spring 2018 release, which would have meant any time between April and June this year. However, this is the first time Rockstar has set an exact date for delivering its gritty open world western, and not a season. It suggests this is the final date we can expect to be entering the developer’s ‘epic tale set in America’s unforgiving heartland’.

The announcement was brief and to the point, with the developer taking to its own blog to write: “While we had hoped to have the game out sooner, we require a little extra time for polish,” adding “We sincerely thank you for your patience and hope that when you get to play the game, you will agree the wait will have been worth it.”

RED EYE SPY

The news of a confirmed release date came with a flurry of new screens to tease us some more. Highlighting the game’s impressive open world the shots take in snowy forests, craggy russet mountains, and warm sunsets.

The game’s protagonist Arthur Morgan is shown riding alongside members of the Dutch van der Linde gang. Crucially the new images also show the mysterious blonde female character (introduced in the 2017’s second trailer) with Morgan. Do we spy a new tragic love story?
