The Bloodborne comic won’t die

Expect five more issues of the fantastic Titan comic

-

Due to the success of Bloodborne issue 1, which sold out, Titan Comics has signed up a five-issue run of the comic series. We caught up with writer Aleš Kot to pick his brains on why FromSoftware’s gothic masterpiece has proved ripe for comic translation.

“Why do I think Bloodborne resonates so much with people everywhere? I think the answer has a lot to do with its fusion of Victorian horror, weird fiction, the Lovecraftian, and so many other influences,” says the writer, who spent 200 hours playing the game before starting issue 1.

“To me, Bloodborne feels so laser-focused: a society gone insane on power, dogma, religion, and blood, a world where even your own perception is uncertain. I think we can perhaps all relate to that on very deep levels.”

Aside from another five issues of Bloodborne, Kot teases how he’d love to work on a Metal Gear Solid comic, “but only if Hideo Kojima gave me his full blessings,” and says rather than franchises he’d like to work with game designers on new series: “I’d love to work with Hidetaka Miyazaki, Hideo Kojima, Jane Jensen, Thomas Grip, and Neil Druckmann,” says the writer.

Whether Kot will get his dream collaborations is another matter, but Titan Comics hasn’t halted its ambitions for more PS4-related releases. The next big launch will be a four-part comic series based on Life Is Strange, and who doesn’t want more Chloe?

IT FEELS SO LASER-FOCUSED: A SOCIETY GONE INSANE.
