Which Marvel character should cameo in Spider-Man?

IAN DEAN EDITOR OPEN UP SPIDERMAN TO THE WIDER SPIDER-VERSE AND EMBRACE MARVEL’S NEWEST HERO.

JESS KINGHORN STAFF WRITER MAYBE IT’S CHEMICALS, MAYBE IT’S A SPIDER BITE, MAYBE IT’S MAYBELLINE.

OSCAR TAYLOR-KENT GAMES EDITOR MARVEL’S TESTIEST HERO AND ITS MOST CHIRPY WOULD MAKE A PERFECT COMIC BOOK ODD COUPLE.

MIRIAM MCDONALD OPERATIONS EDITOR PETER, MEET PETER: IT’S A MATCH MADE IN WISECRACKING HEAVEN.

Spider-Gwen, SpiderGwen, can do whatever a spider (man) can. What better way to expand Sony’s Spider-Man foray than to embrace the craziness of the Spider-verse? Not only can Spider-Gwen use the same swinging, webbing skills as Spider-Man, but we can double-down on the familial angst and in-jokes and have an entire mission set around getting the band back together. Maybe we can even have a Guitar Hero-like sub-game where The Mary Janes (Gwen’s band) need to bang out a tune and save the city. Super heroics and soft rock, now that’s what I call multitasking.

Maybe it’s just narcissism but Jessica Jones gets my vote. The more-thanmorally grey, selfdestructive detective could provide a compelling foil to goody-two-shoes Peter Parker. The comics have explored this dynamic in the past, focussing on the pair’s differing reactions to their shared experience of familial loss. With Black Cat’s appearance in an already confirmed future DLC, I’m not going to say ‘no thank you’ to more badass ladies in a superhero game. Besides, Parker’s experience as a journalist and Jones’ investigative skills could make for a solid detective drama DLC.

Has ever a bromance been so pure as the one shared between Spider-Man and Wolverine? You’d think it wouldn’t work. One’s a wise-cracking friendly neighbourhood wallcrawler, and the other a gruff Canadian whose mutant powers allow him to survive literally thousands of brutal stabbings. But it’s this difference that makes the friendship so lovely when the two have crossed paths in the past. It’s a classic double act, and it’d be great to see the two play off one another in-game – perhaps as part of the post-launch DLC? We’re crossing our web-shooters.

Countless hours playing Lego Marvel Super Heroes 2 has taught me the value of the right combination of characters (Iron Man and Squirrel Girl? Surprisingly useful. Lockjaw and Howard The Duck? Err…). Peter Quill, Star-Lord himself, would be a great match for Spider-Man. Where Parker can swing, Quill can fly. Where Quill can quip, Parker can fire a one-liner right back. And Parker’s possibly dorky enough to appreciate Quill’s dadtastic mixtapes. Between them they’d turn taking down villains into a hilarious escapade with a ’70s soundtrack, and follow it up with one fantastic party.
