LAST MONTH ON PS PLUS
Just call me Furiosa because it was time to tear it up in the Wasteland. Whether you longed to be eternally brushing sand and grit out of the upholstery or you just wanted some good, clean, vehicular mayhem, April’s PS Plus lineup had you covered.
Leading the charge was the Road Warrior himself, Mad Max. Beginning with nothing, you had to work to strike back against those who took all you had from you. Scavenging for scrap, you rebuilt your car and base before setting off out into the wider world for car-based combat, uneasy alliances, and inspiration for your questionable Aussie accent. Along similar lines was Trackmania
Turbo. Physics meant very little here, as you raced on over more than 200 tracks across four unique environments. You just put your pedal to the metal and enjoyed up to 16-player multiplayer alongside a track builder mode.
Also on PS4 was Q*bert: Rebooted. This arcade classic had been brought up to date for modern systems and was also available on PS Vita and PS3 via cross-buy. It saw you navigating sweary Q*bert around obstacles as he tried to change the colour of each cube in a pyramid by hopping on top of them.
Closing out Vita’s offerings this month was Brazilian pixel art beat-’em-up
99Vidas. This one kept it short and sweet, wearing its inspirations on its sleeve across a story mode of six levels, with 11 colourful playable characters along for the ride.
Finally, there were two more titles on PS3 this month. Twin-stick shooter
In Space We Brawl allowed up to four players to get cosy on the sofa as they blew each other to bits, and bringing everything full circle was Toy Home, in which you drove a miniature automobile around a very messy playroom in search of hidden medals, checkpoints, and coins.
