OVERWATCH 2

Follow up to team-based shooter smash announced

-

Overwatch is getting a sequel. In it the international task force reforms in the face of co-ordinated attacks all over the globe by Omnic terrorist group Null Sector. Winston, Mei, and Tracer were the focal point of the announcement cinematic that debuted onstage at BlizzCon. However, there’ll be plenty of other familiar faces mixed among the brand-new ones among the ranks as you thwart criminal organisation Talon wherever it attempts to get its hooks in.

Overwatch 2 is built with an upgraded engine at its foundation, supporting larger maps and a visual upgrade for your roster of heroes. The name of the game is replayability, as the more you play the sequel’s new story-heavy PvE co-op and Hero missions, the more you can level up your favourites. This unlocks and upgrades abilities, thereby adding new wrinkles to your co-op strategies.

What’s perhaps most interesting is how this sequel interacts with its predecessor. If you’re an existing player jumping onto the sequel ship, you’ll be able to continue using all your amassed cosmetics and loot from the first game. Players of both games will gain access to the new heroes as they’re released, but players of the original Overwatch will miss out on the sequel’s graphical upgrade and new missions. The PvP multiplayer is and remains the focus in both games, but the sequel will enjoy far more bells and whistles. No release window has been announced yet – but watch this space.

YOU’LL BE ABLE TO USE ALL YOUR COSMETICS AND LOOT.
