DAYS GONE RIDES AGAIN?
Bend Studio would love to get back on its bike
Bend Studio wins and teases a sequel.
After picking up trophies for Best Narrative and PlayStation Game Of The Year for Days Gone at November’s Golden Joystick Awards, the team behind the open world survival-horror adventure got very excited. When asked what’s next the game’s studio director, Chris Reese, told us enthusiatically: “I would love to see more and see how it unfolds, absolutely, yeah…”
Though Days Gone received mixed reviews (we loved it and scored it 9/10 in OPM#162, mind) the game found a passionate audience and sales have been good. A summer of free DLC, including a Crazy-Taxi-style minigame in which Deacon St John must ferry survivors to safety past Freakers, proved a novel approach for Sony.
“It is certainly a passion of ours, and that’s what we’ve always wanted to do,” Reese told our sister website GamesRadar+ after the Golden Joysticks. “This is a world that we want to keep breathing more life into, and explore many, many different avenues. So who knows, we’ll see!”
When it comes to Bend Studio’s legacy series, Syphon Filter, Reese could only tease us when we pressed for a new game: “You never know,” he said.
We expect any sequel will be heading to PlayStation 5, and most likely still run on Unreal Engine.
Other games to win at the Golden Joystick Awards include Beat Saber for VR Game Of The Year, and
Control scooped the Critics’ Choice, while Resident Evil 2 won Ultimate Game Of The Year.
I WOULD LOVE TO SEE MORE AND SEE HOW IT UNFOLDS.
