PSYHOTEL SIMULATOR

Indie dev RG Crew reveals what PS5 offers

-

KEEP THE HOTEL RUNNING WHILE PLANNING YOUR HITS.

09If you set Hitman inside John Wick’s Continental Hotel you’ll get an idea of how PS5-bound indie PsyHotel Simulator plays. As the owner of said hostelry, you have the prime opportunity to take out some of the world’s worst criminals.

At its core PsyHotel is a macabre spin on the management sim. You need to keep the hotel running while planning your hits, which can go from poisoning patrons (that disclosed nut allergy will prove useful) to setting traps, such as crafting a bomb into an alarm clock.

What’s clear is indie developer RG Crew understands its limitations, and even on PS5 will prioritise gameplay over the graphical excesses the next gen will offer.

The game’s lead programmer, Piotr Rycabel, tells us: “This is not [a] Triple-A production, so the graphical benefits would be quite limited. However, surely PsyHotel Simulator would draw on the high computing power of PS5. […] The PS5 version would certainly focus on using most of its resources and keeping the gameplay flow.”

Where the game could embrace PS5’s tech is in making use of the console’s new DualSense pad.

“Haptic feedback could play a big role in stealth gameplay. Moving heavy objects, slowly opening the door with a sense or using the traps mentioned above in various ways,” says Rycabel, before going on to explain: “DualSense cannot only provide features that allow more immersion into the game world, but also be a part of gameplay solutions.”
