Which PS5 games should embrace PS VR?

-

IAN DEAN EDITOR GHOSTWIRE: TOKYO’S KUJI-KIRI COMBAT WOULD COME ALIVE IN PS VR.

The obvious answer is Resident Evil Village. Capcom’s success with Resi VII and PS VR suggests bringing that talent to PS5 is a no-brainer. However, I’d also love to see Tango Gameworks embrace virtual reality for its first-person melee combat, magical strike adventure Ghostwire: Tokyo. I can imagine wafting two PS Move controllers about to pull off magical attacks to become a Sammo Hung Mr Vampire killer. Even if this is nothing more than a bonus mode, a dog patting simulator, or a wave attack challenge as we fend off spectres, it’ll be a great way to bolster PS5’s sleeper hit.

JESS KINGHORN STAFF WRITER FOR ME, IT’S THE SIMPLE PLEASURES OFFERED BY PS VR THAT REALLY SELL THE PLATFORM.

My answer is as obvious as it is silly: Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2. Goofy blood slurping in PS VR aside, there’s something about a crisp winter’s night or early morning. It’s not just the cold comfort of Hardsuit Labs’ Seattle in December, though that definitely helps during yet another heatwave here in jolly old England. It’s also the fantasy of walking back to my Haven in the middle of the night and knowing that I’m one of the scariest things for miles around… that and the daydream of feeling comfortably awake way past my bedtime in a make-believe, eternal two in the morning.

OSCAR TAYLOR-KENT GAMES EDITOR WHAT IF PS VR COULD ADD A SECOND PLAYER INTO RATCHET & CLANK?

Simply changing the camera angle for a PS VR game isn’t always the best way to implement virtual reality. For Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart I want to see a two-player mode that embraces PS VR. That’s right, allow me to ogle the world through Clank’s wide robo eyes, watching my friend’s six as they play through the game as Ratchet on-screen as they normally would. Perhaps I can then use Clank’s mechanical powers to help out my friend by chipping away at enemies they just miss? Or maybe I’m simply going along for the ride, soaking up Insomniac’s visual sci-fi splendour. Either way, let me ride backpack.

MIRIAM MCDONALD OPERATIONS EDITOR I CAN’T GO TO LONDON, SO WATCH DOGS LEGION IN PS VR WILL DO FOR ME.

The beauty of PS VR is that it immerses you completely in a game world. But right now none of us are able to see very much of the real world. Because of that a game with a strong sense of place appeals to me more than one with lots of moving around between cities and settings. The chance to wander round Ubisoft’s futureimperfect version of London sounds ideal. Will my favourite pubs feature? Can I still scare Londoners by striking up a conversation on the Tube? I don’t know. But even if my favourite real-world locations aren’t in the game, just getting away from home will be very welcome.
