_How the Nomads mod their cars
As the nomads mostly operate on the city outskirts, their vehicles need to be sturdier than street cars, but, “Nomads are not building their cars from nowhere,” shares Mielniczuk. The game has about 29 base models of cars that come in “countless” varieties, including these Nomad sets. “They just buy a really good, reliable car and they are investing a lot of money to make it super-overpowered, so they are replacing the engine, they’re adding more… it’s like the owner of Subaru Impreza making an early version on his own, you know? So that’s what Nomads do – they are tossing equipment in the already-existing car.”
“NOMADS ARE TOSSING EQUIPMENT IN THE ALREADY EXISTING CAR.”
But that doesn’t mean these cars are simple reskins. The vehicle modifications affect how they are for you to drive too. “[They’re] putting anti-mine detector systems here, they are putting a top bumper, [they] don’t need lighting because all the cars are driving on, you know, infrared and stuff. They don’t have any windows because they are using this crystal dome technology,” explains Mielniczuk. This means that as you drive these types of cars, you’ll view the outside through a screen that wraps around you. “[It’s] basically an LCD screen with armour outside. So, when you get into the car, you shut the door, it’s completely dark in there and after a minute the lights light up. […] There’s this cool effect of disappearing meshes and seeing, looking like through the LCD screen so there are noises, there are glitches happening on the screens.”
That tech also features on some of the high-end cars driven by rich people. “They also don’t have windows because their owners care about their protection, right? So they just don’t want everybody to see them and they want to be… [it’s like a] sporty armoured tank basically,” says Mielniczuk.
