EFOOTBALL PES 2021 SEASON UPDATE

PES 2022 is being developed on Unreal Engine

-

We’ve been waiting 03 to see what PES’ next team strategy will be, and now the whistle’s blown it seems like some big plays are afoot. Specifically, Konami’s focus is on next gen, switching from its own Fox Engine to Unreal Engine as it builds PES 2022 for PS5.

This doesn’t mean there won’t be a game this year, but Konami has said it’s had to “pare back our efforts” on PES 2021 in order to put resources into next year’s bigger release. “Even though eFootball PES 2021 Season Update is similar to eFootball PES 2020 it is still a different game with different players and teams,” Konami says. And it will release at a cheaper price point with “several bonuses” to celebrate 25 years of the beautiful videogame.

NEXT-GEN DRIBBLE

“The Unreal Engine allows our development team to look at our game from completely different angles and gives the team more opportunities to bring PES to a whole new level,” explains Lennart Bobzien, European PES brand manager. “We will talk more about exact details at a later stage, but it’s worth stressing that we’re rebuilding our next-gen title from the ground up.”

Needless to say, the console is already going over well in Konami HQ. “The PS5 is a very interesting piece of hardware and enables us to give the user an even more realistic gaming experience when they will play PES on the next generation console,” we’re told. The company’s teased some “creative ideas” regarding DualSense, but stress that it’s still early days. Still, we can’t wait to kickoff a whole new generation of PES on PS5.

WE’RE REBUILDING OUR NEXT-GEN TITLE FROM THE GROUND UP.

PES 2021 launches 15 September. The next-gen PES follows on PS5 next year.
