He’s made comedic road movies and sci-fi rollercoasters, and has more Oscars than OPM: Alfonso Cuarón would be my pick to direct a Days Gone film. His notable love of long takes and a constantly moving camera would be the perfect way to bring Deacon St John’s bike-based road trip to the big screen. Set within wintry, scenic Oregon as well as deep woodlands and deserts, Cuarón would bring Days Gone’s post-apocalyptic expanses to life. Given his love for the darker things in life (he produced Pan’s Labyrinth) and a eye for cutting-edge VFX (Gravity), the horde would be in safe hands with Cuarón behind the lens.

Film is my first love. Giallo-infused Remothered: Broken Porcelain, for all its faults, feels like it’s in the same postcode as Suspiria remake director Luca Guadagnino’s romantic horror wheelhouse. But my dream as a media journalist would be to sit down with popular surrealist David Lynch and get his unfiltered opinion on Silent Hill and Deadly Premonition – two series that lift liberally from his earlier work. As that is the definition of a pipe dream, I’ll settle for imagining the director running rogue with these IPs in a feature where he has full creative control.

Horror isn’t quite what Wes Anderson’s known for, but that’s partially why it’d be interesting to see his take on Little Nightmares. His stop-motion animated features, combined with his almost doll’s houselike set design and framing and ability to harness a childlike perspective, could create an interesting and perhaps chilling feature film out of Tarsier

Studios’ frightening adventure. Someone like Tim Burton might be too on the nose for taking on the property, so I’d love to see a twee adaption. As long as he doesn’t end up casting Jason Schwartzman as Six, we could be in for a treat.

Who should make the Metal Gear Solid movie? James Cameron, Christopher Nolan, or Quentin Tarantino? Nah, the only person who can bring the Solid Snake saga to the silver screen is Hideo Kojima. Can you imagine anyone else making true sense of this winding, introspective series? The MGS movie debate often gets bogged down in who should play Snake (Karl Urban, obviously) but with Kojima at the helm you could put Shia LaBeouf in the headband and we’d get a film worthy of the name. We’d have to be prepared for the unexpected, though – LaBeouf as Raiden instead? Now that’s a movie.
