PlayStatio­n 5 will be out in the wilds as you read this, but the launch is just the start of the next gen. Looking ahead to 2021, with some major games coming to PS5 in its first year, we asked OPM’s readers to vote for their most-wanted games arriving next year. Here are the top five games you want to play on PlayStatio­n 5 in 2021…

1. GOD OF WAR RAGNAROK

Scooping 44% of your votes, it seems everyone wants to play Sony Santa Monica’s teased sequel. We could be venturing back to Midgard next winter – what better Christmas present could Sony give us?

Having finished the last game on a cliffhange­r with Thor knocking on Kratos’ door and the discovery that Atreus is actually Loki, who’s destined to kill his father, we can’t wait to see where Cory Barlog takes this sequel. On PS5, using a

DualSense, swinging the Leviathan Axe or drawing Atreus’ bow will feel remarkable. What better setting to showcase the next generation’s subtle, immersive ray tracing than the icy wilds of Norse mythology?

Reader Owen Goldsmith says what we’re all thinking: “Anybody who doesn’t want to watch Kratos absolutely pagger Thor doesn’t deserve a PS5…”

2. HORIZON FORBIDDEN WEST

Aloy will be continuing her travels on PS4 and PS5 next year. She takes 13% of our vote, proving you can’t wait to see where that journey takes her. Spanning the US region from Utah towards – and including – the Pacific coast, it looks like much of the game will take place in and around the sunken ruins of

San Francisco. We’ve already seen Aloy exploring the city’s famous Ferry Building, and the Palace Of

Fine Arts, as well as riding below the Golden Gate Bridge.

Where the original game focussed on the open spaces, prairies, and jungles of Aloy’s world, the sequel
