DRAGON BALL FIGHTERZ
Do you have the balls? Format PS4 ETA 2018 Pub Bandai Namco Dev Arc System Works
Do you want to play a true anime? If the answer is a giddy big fat ‘yes!’ followed by cartwheels and gleeful gibbering, then you need to sit up and breathe in what Dragon Ball FighterZ is offering. (We know the name’s terrible, but keep with us because the game’s great.)
Developed by Arc System Works, maker of the superb Guilty Gear series, this latest Dragon Ball game (usually not our favourite words) is a wonderfully loony but incredibly deep fighter that could put Marvel Vs. Capcom: Infinite in the shade.
Like Guilty Gear this is a 2.5D fighter that delivers a standard mix of combos and super special moves, only given the craziness of the Dragon Ball character roster, and the game’s pernickety attention to detail, FighterZ delivers an incredible anime uppercut. Also, characters can teleport, dash, and jettison opponents into orbit as well as blast them through buildings in ways reminiscent of Injustice 2.
The fact FightersZ is offering all this zaniness in 3v3 matches, harnessed to Arc’s deft approach to fighting games, only strengthens the feeling that this is shaping into a Marvel Vs. Capcom: Infinite beater.
