METRO EXODUS

The Russia-set series has its own revolution Format PS4 ETA 2018 Pub Deep Silver Dev 4A Games

We’re heading back to Moscow in Metro Exodus, the direct sequel to Metro: Last Light. However, Moscow is just the starting point for what developer 4A Games is describing as a “sandbox shooter”.

Breaking out of the confines of post-apocalyptic Moscow’s underground tunnels is at the heart of this sequel. The on-rails metro gameplay has been relocated topside and developed into a mix of linear and open-world play styles.

Boarding a heavily armoured steam train called the Aurora, and playing as protagonist Artyom, you’ll be able to travel across a desolate Russian wasteland, meeting old friends and making new allies in your search for a mutant-free haven.

Moving the action above ground will affect the first-person shooting in new and unique ways. The journey will take the characters a year, which means there will now be seasonal cycles to contend with, so fans of the series will, for the first time, be able to experience the Metro universe in dappled sunshine.

But as Metro regulars will know, there’s always a sting in the tail with this series, and as well as the new dramatically changing weather conditions hampering your progress, the climate will also affect the behaviour of the mutated creatures you’ll encounter – heavy snow means a lack of food, for example, making them more aggressive. Finally, this series is going places.
