NI NO KUNI II: REVENANT KINGDOM

A jaw-dropping JRPG Format PS4 ETA 10 Nov Pub Bandai Namco Dev Level-5

There’s just no mistaking Level-5’s effortlessly pretty JRPG franchise, with its fantastically named monsters, delicious Welsh accents, and Studio Ghibli art style. The animation house isn’t actually involved this time, but that hasn’t stopped Revenant Kingdom developing into the most strikingly gorgeous RPG on PS4. Set hundreds of years after Wrath Of The White Witch, Ni No Kuni II places you in the adorable booties of one Evan Pettiwhisker Tildrum: the boy king of a cat tribe in the town of Ding Dong Dell. The lush anime combat is interspersed with overworld exploration where the characters appear as cute chibis, while the Pokémon-esque beasties of the original have been replaced by Higgledies; tiny spirit critters that band together to help Evan during battle. Considering PS4 isn’t exactly flush with enticing exclusives between now and the end of the year, we’re glad Ni No Kuni II is helping to prop up Sony’s winter release schedule.
