Every console needs a game that will set pulses racing. GT Sport is that game in more ways than one: 4K visuals, HDR, 60fps, PS VR – tick, tick, tick, and tick. GT Sport is the PT Barnum of videogames. A showstopper out to impress, it even makes use of ‘wide color gamut’ – meaning an increase in colour for ‘redder’ reds, ‘greener’ greens, and ‘bluer’ blues. It means when you’re on the track everything is solid – you can almost feel the light bouncing off the circuits.
It handles perfectly, too. When used with the new Thrustmaster wheel, it’s a match made in heaven. If you play solo it’ll bamboozle you with goodies: a plethora of stats; 140 photorealistic cars; 145 new game events spread across Beginners School, Racing Etiquette, and Circuit Experience; and Sport Mode (the pro race gameplay setting that you’ll need to master to enter eSports).
Now throw in PS VR – we’ve played it, and despite feeling a little blurry, it more than a gimmick – and GT Sport is fast becoming the most complete embodiment of PlayStation gaming. Let’s get this show on the road.
