THE ORDER: 1886
Red-faced Ben Tyrer shamefully wishes this oddity got another chance I’m not going to pretend this gorgeous but vacuous blockbuster is a strong game throughout. But in the home stretch, where there’s actual action, it bristles with potential. A strangely appealing alternate history and incredible visuals make me wish this had the sequel it sets itself up for. At least going back to 1886 offers me a chance to dream about what could have been.
