From the tee off, it’s worth noting that while there is matchmaking for this, you’ll struggle to find the larger groups this game was obviously designed for, if you find a match at all. But, to be fair, it’s called Golf With Your Friends (up to 12 of ’em) and not Golf With Randos, so what did you expect? The golf itself is simple as can be, and everyone putts at once (time limits and shot limits, as well as collision and power-up toggles can be customised). There are lots of 18-hole courses, which quickly get quite absurd (and demanding). Gimmicks feel unique to courses, such as pirate ship cannons and jetpacks on the Worms course. (The Escapists is due to be added in an update.) Dunk and Hockey modes add novelty, but it’s the golf that’s compelling.

VERDICT

It’s no advanced crazy golf sim. Instead it serves as a platform for you to have fun with your friends. That’s one hole it sinks smoothly. Oscar Talyor-Kent
