Knock & look inside your fridge
One of the most accessed devices in a home is a refrigerator and if it breaks down it can be a right pain in the backside.
This is why brands such as LG are developing their refrigerators to last longer while being easier to access and control even remotely.
What’s coming is total control of both the content and being able to talk to your fridge “Hey Google, how many beers have I got left” or Hey Alexa “What’s the use by date on my milk”.
Today retailers are selling refrigerators that incorporate LG’s InstaView Door-in-Door fridge technology which can be found in LG’s Multi-Door refrigerators.
Featuring a sleek and elegant stainless-steel design, LG’s InstaView Door-in-Door refrigerators come with a glass panel that illuminates the interior with two simple knocks, so users can conveniently scan the contents for faster and easier access to their favourite drinks and snacks.
This distinctive feature offers an energy-efficient and comfortable way to look inside without opening the appliance door, leading to less cold air escaping and fresher food for longer.
The top end InstaView Door-in-Door refrigerator is equipped with LG’s SmartThinQ technology so that users can remotely control their refrigerator with their smartphone, enabling them to set the refrigerator temperature and diagnose appliance problems on a connected application.
This smart appliance can also call up recipes based on the ingredients inside the refrigerator, and relay instructions to LG smart ovens, which automatically adjusts cooking setting after receiving the recipe.
And what was fantasy five years ago is now reality and whether you’re an Amazon Alexa loyalist or a Google Assistant fan, you’ll be able to control your smart kitchen with your voice.
That is, if your smart kitchen is outfitted with LG smart appliances.
The company recently announced that its line of SmartThinQ appliances are now compatible with both Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant, making LG one of the first major appliance manufacturers to offer integrations with both services.
At LG SmartThinQ appliances include refrigerators, ranges, dishwashers, washers, dryers, air conditioners, air purifiers, and vacuums.
The ability to connect with both Alexa and Assistant is thanks to LG’s open-platform, open-partnership, open-connectivity ecosystem. By allowing everyone to play equally, LG is making your life easier, ensuring that you don’t have to buy a whole new smart home hub when you buy new connected appliances.
A new smart home consumer report, conducted by LG, revealed that more than half of customers believe the key to becoming a better cook lies in having a smarter kitchen.
And given that we now have appliances that will literally set oven temperatures and timers for us for a foolproof dinner, it’s no surprise that this is a pervasive belief.
With LG’s existing smart kitchen appliances, you can remotely preheat your oven, or remotely turn it off. You can also receive a smartphone notification if you’ve left your refrigerator door open or ask Alexa (or Assistant) to make extra ice ahead of a party. Really, your kitchen is your oyster, and now with even more flexibility when it comes to your preferred smart assistant, you may be on your way to becoming a true star chef.
