Pop, fizzle, & Aarke soda

- BY ROMA CHRISTIAN

Swedish designer, Aarke, has taken on the likes of Sodastream, by launching its stylish new ‘Sparkling Water Maker’ (A$249) down under, for the modern and sophisticated home.

Available in polished silver steel, matte black, brass and porcelain white, Aarke’s drink carbonator is marketed as a premium countertop appliance – a “sculptural piece” and a “style statement”.

The product claims to be the world’s first carbonated water machine with a complete stainless-steel enclosure, unlike the flimsy plastic soda makers of old.

As an added sweetener, Aarke’s Sparkling Water Maker is compatible with 60L CO2 cylinders and bottles from other brands, including Sodastream.

The machine offers fresh sparkling water on-demand, and can be used with organic tonic syrups (A$12.99/each) for flavoured drinks – e.g. bitter, rhubard and spruce shoots tonic.

With its sleek design and stainless-steel enclosure, Aarke’s Sparkling Water Maker harnesses high-end components and safety valves for carbonated drinks in seconds.

With the simple push of lever, pressure is immediately released – simultaneously carbonating water and letting out pressure to the bottle.

Users are then simply required to unscrew the bottle from the soda maker and serve – cocktails, post-exercise tonic, fresh sparkling water and more.

Aarke’s Sparkling Water Maker ships with a PET water bottle and instruction manual, however, cylinder is not included.
