Jaybird unveil new RUN XT waterproof earbuds

- BY ORLAITH COSTELLO

Jaybird has announced the latest iteration of its true wireless RUN headphones: the RUN XT with full IPX7 waterproofing ($279.95).

Besides new colour options and waterproof rating, the RUN XT are strikingly similar to the original RUN earbuds retaining the same overall look, Siri/ Google Assistant buttons, Find My Buds feature (thanks to the Jaybird app) and “Mono Mode” which sends sound to the right earbud only.

Jaybird promises 12 hours of playtime — four hours off a charge with an additional eight hours in the carrying case — similar to the original RUN earbuds.

The wireless buds come with interchangeable silicone ear tips and fins for a customisable fit, and its waterproof rating is thanks to its double hydrophobic nano-coating.

“We’re excited to build on the success of RUN by making RUN XT even better with full IPX7 waterproofness, increasing its durability in all conditions,” said Jeremy Saxton, Head of Industrial Design at Jaybird.

“Now the entire lineup of Jaybird headphones are waterproof and sweatproof. At the same time, we took the opportunity to update the colours and finishing to create a more rugged yet sophisticated design.”

Jaybird is also introducing a new podcast feature on its app — coming early February — in addition to its usual Spotify music playlists, which will include podcast playlists curated by Jaybird ambassadors and staff, for athletes that prefer podcasts to music while working out.

Jaybird RUN XT True Wireless Sport Headphones come in Black/Flash and Storm Gray/Glacier.
