Uniden launch wire-free 4G security cam

- BY ROMA CHRISTIAN

Taking on the likes of Arlo and Ring, Uniden has released its new App Cam Solo 4G security camera in Australia – capable of recording 1080p video without relying on Wi-Fi or mains power.

Ideal for monitoring moored boats, parked caravans or building sites, the wire-free camera relies on SIM-based connectivity and a rechargeable battery for “non-stop power” when used with an optional solar panel.

Available to purchase online and from select Australian retailers, the new Uniden App Cam Solo 4G Solar Panel Kit retails for A$649.95.

With app connectivity, users can view LIVE footage remotely from either a smartphone or tablet device.

The camera is connected to 4G via a user’s SIM and data plan of choice, enabling the device to be installed and operated in areas without Wi-Fi connection.

Uniden asserts the camera has been specifically designed to use in remote locations, with its weatherproof design and camouflage silicon sleeve suitable for both indoor and outdoor use.

The new App Cam Solo 4G boasts a 7800mAh rechargeable battery, with an optional solar panel helping to maintain 24/7 power.

Courtesy of advanced power saving technology, the device pledges up to 90 days of standby time.

Users can remotely view footage via the Uniden Solo app, which also sends alerts and push notifications when motion is detected.

Thermo Sense Technology [heat sensor] pledges to eliminate false alerts – e.g. rustling leaves.

Video footage can be stored directly onto an SD card, or the Uniden Cloud backup.

Like other rival devices, the App Cam Solo 4G can sound a loud siren alert to startle intruders. Two-way communication capabilities enable users to talk to couriers or visitors.

Suitable for nighttime and low light use, the camera boasts a 110-degree wide viewing angle and specialist Startlight Night vision.
