GERRY RYAN

MR AUSTRALIAN CYCLING

-

A fortune in the region of AUD$180 million, largely from his Jayco caravan business, marks Ryan out as one of Australia’s richest men. His links to cycling stretch back over 20 years, notably through Jayco’s sponsorship of the AIS continental development team. He’s bankrolled Orica- GreenEdge since its 2012 inception and recently announced that his original three-year investment would continue through at least the 2016 season. Yet there are plenty of wealthy team owners not on this list, so why include Ryan? Well, last November he succeeded Klaus Muller as Cycling Australia’s president. With compatriot Tracey Gaudry now in place as a vice-president at the UCI, Australian cycling’s influence on the rest of the world spreads.
