FRANCESCA ROSSI
UCI’S HIDDEN ANTI-DOPER
In 2010, Dr Francesca Rossi assumed command of CADF (Cycling Anti Doping Foundation) in Aigle, Switzerland. With the UCI mired in a seemingly interminable struggle for credibility, she’s since worked quietly but diligently in altering people’s perceptions. She set up the APMU (Athlete Passport Management Unit) to oversee the day-to- day supervision of the passport system and under her stewardship CADF has achieved ISO 9001:2008 status for its policies.
The battle won’t be won overnight but regardless of the naysayers, there is genuine progress now. Rossi’s not one for press conferences or sound bites but she’s at the vanguard of a genuine revolution in cycling. You might not see her but you can’t fail to know that she’s there.
