TIM KERRISON
COACHING REVOLUTIONARY
Described by Team Sky boss Dave Brailsford as “the best man in cycling” the one-time Australia swimming coach has revolutionised training and preparation in cycling and helped guide the British team to victories that almost everyone thought were beyond them. Kerrison’s critical realisation was that races are a totally unsuitable place to conduct a beneficial training programme, leading to the development of Sky’s regular camps in Tenerife. Other teams are now following Kerrison’s trailblazing route to success but the coach continues to move on, giving Sky an edge that has yielded two consecutive Tour wins. It’s no wonder Brailsford says he doesn’t want to lose him.
