The peloton skirts the Ligurian coastline on the Mediterranean in Italy's early season legstretcher. The hilly race often comes down to a very reduced sprint, but Fabio Felline decided to make the tactics even more straightforward by attacking solo 10km out to take the win, 25 comfortable seconds ahead of Fortuneo rider Romain Hardy. Felline was moonlighting away from his regular day job at Trek-Segafredo, representing the Azzuri, the Italian national team, which often combines experienced old hands like Fellini and fourthplaced Matteo Trentin with younger riders.
