Perched at the pinnacle of Astute’s expansive range, the SkycarbVT is a showcase of the Italian brand’s greatest saddle technology. Between the carbon ibre rails and hull are elastomers to reduce vibration. The shape is lat laterally, waved longitudinally (so you sit slightly ‘in’ it rather than ‘on’) and has a large, braced cut-out for pressure relief. Despite being more generously padded than most race saddles, it weighs just 155g on our scales. We have now ridden it for some very long rides, and it’s astonishing; the damping really works.
