MAVIC CXR 80T

-

Price: £2,050 Weight: 1,723g

The CXR uses clip-in ‘blades’ to smooth the transition from tyre to rim. They aren’t UCI-legal so pros have to race without them but you can use them in most TTs. The CXR 80 is now nearly four years old but still a force. It’s tubular- only and comes with Mavic’s speci ic tyre, the pattern of which is designed to in luence air low. Grip is good in the dry but less so in the wet. We had a scary slide in a corner at 35mph. Most carbon wheels have a delay before braking arrives in the wet; with the CXR 80s it never arrives. They’re stable and fast at high yaw in the tunnel but slow at low yaw. www.mavic.com
