BIANCHI OLTRE XR4

The Slovenian rider's race rig

-

As a strong time triallist and former world-level junior ski jumper, Roglic, perhaps more than most riders, is aware of the importance of marrying speed with control. And his Bianchi Oltre XR4 –pictured here before the opening stage of this year’s Vuelta Ciclista al País Vasco, in which Roglic finished 12th – reflects that.

The Italian marque’s aero-optimised race bike features Bianchi’s ‘Countervail’ technology to reduce road buzz and help its rider hold a lowprofile, high-speed position for longer.

Standing 177cm tall and weighing only 65kg, Roglic is a compact rider who’s also suited to the climbs. But the deep drop on his FSA Extra Light New Ergo bars show just how far the Slovenian is willing to go to save a few extra watts. Satellite shifters under the tape allow him to shift gears more easily when the racing really hots up too.
