Tour de Luxembourg

31 May-4 June, 2. HC, Luxembourg

-

Luxembourg might be one of the smallest countries in Europe, but its national tour is one of the oldest of all. It was established in 1935 and has missed only two editions, at the beginning and end of the Second World War, since then. It used to showcase the home riders in the old days, with Charly Gaul winning three, but there's only been one home winner since the mid-1980s: Fränk Schleck in 2009, in spite of the wealth of cycling talent from the Grand Duchy. It's prestigious - the UCI has habitually given it a ranking of .HC. The 2017 event kicks o f with a prologue in Luxembourg City, followed by four road stages. The crucial action is likely to be at the Walferdange inish of stage 2, which will be sandwiched by sprint stages in Bascharage and Diekirch. The inale is a stage inishing back where the race started, in the capital city.
