Route du Sud

The Route du Sud is a hidden gem of stage racing. While the Dauphiné, Tour de Suisse and Tour de France dominate the headlines, this Pyrenean race attracts less attention, although it's sometimes treated as one last opportunity to hone form before the Tour, and it has recently attracted some big names. On the parcours for 2017: a new climb, the Viscos ascent of Luz Ardiden (steeper than the classic route) and a summit inish at the Espécières ski station near the Spanish border. Already on the startlist: Fabio Aru, with more big names expected.
