The good news for the Australian sprinter is that he’s ticking along nicely, with six wins so far in 2017. The bad is that none of those have come in Europe, or since the end of February. He was in great form at the Tour Down Under, with five stage wins, then beat Cavendish and Greipel at the Abu Dhabi Tour (two days after he gifted victory to Kittel by raising his hands before the line while the German swooped past). Ewan has won 22 races since turning pro in 2015, but only three of these have been taken in Europe. His big task this year is to redress that imbalance.
