Giro d’Italia Internazionale Femminile

-

30 June-9 July, 2.WWT, Italy Despite years of being underreported, the 10-day Giro Rosa remains the most prestigious event on the women’s calendar. Last year, Boels-Dolmans’ Megan Guarnier took the maglia rosa. The 2017 race is a diagonal north to south a fair from Friuli to Vesuvius. The race opens with an 11.5km TTT in Aquileia, before moving south across the plains into the central Apennines. A major GC rendezvous awaits on stage 5 with a tough 12.7km TT in the Marche. Two 140km mountain stages inishing in Baronissi and Palinuro (stages 8 and 9) should crack open the GC for the inale: an undulating stage leading to the foot of Vesuvius, a climb to the summit and a dive to the line in Torre del Greco.
