BRAND HISTORY

Trek was established in 1976 when Richard Burke, and Bevel Hogg set up a factory in Waterloo, Wisconsin, making steel touring frames. By the early 1980s, Trek was building complete bikes, including its irst race-ready models. It was also experimenting with mountain bikes which were gaining popularity in California. The company has always been at the forefront of carbon frame innovation. It established its own composites division in 1992, the Advanced Concepts Group. One of its irst patents was Trek’s OCLV manufacturing process (Optimum Compaction Low Void) which is now a ubiquitous marque on its high end frames. In 2012, Trek unveiled the irst iteration of the Domane, which featured the innovative IsoSpeed decoupler. This allowed sections of the frame to lex under load to aid comfort while other sections remained sti f to maintain e iciency.
