DOUBLING UP
It’s been nine years since a rider won two Grand Tours in a year, and Nairo Quintana’s narrow failure to win the Giro d’Italia (not to mention the difficulty of riding the Tour to win just six weeks afterwards) has put the challenge back into the spotlight. It’s not an impossibility, however – three different riders finished on two GT podiums last year alone. We’ve listed all the riders to have finished top 10 in two Grand Tours in all the years since 2008, when Alberto Contador last won two in a single season. Could Tom Dumoulin, or whoever wins the Tour this year double up at the Vuelta?
