TOUR HISTORY

It’s been 22 years since anybody except Fabian Cancellara won a Tour stage in Liège. The city has hosted two prologues in that time, both won by the Swiss rider. In 1995, the stage to Liège was a hilly one, in which Miguel Indurain escaped with Johan Bruyneel. The last lat stage there was in 1965, won by Rik Van Looy.
